Modern mobile diagnostic teams and in-home care providers can conduct a wide array of medical tests without requiring a trip to a clinic or hospital:

- Portable Ultrasound / Doppler: Vascular studies (checking for deep vein thrombosis/DVT), abdominal ultrasounds, cardiac echocardiograms, and renal/bladder scans.
- Portable EKG / ECG: 12-lead electrocardiograms to evaluate heart rhythm and detect cardiac issues.
- In-Home Laboratory & Testing
- Venipuncture & Blood Draws: Complete Blood Counts (CBC), metabolic panels, lipid panels, thyroid tests, and coagulation monitoring (PT/INR).
- Specimen Collection: Urinalysis, urine cultures, and wound or throat swab cultures.
- Point-of-Care Rapid Testing: Rapid flu, COVID-19, RSV, blood glucose, and A1C testing with immediate results.
- In-Home Health Exams & Evaluations
- Vital Sign & Physical Assessments: Heart rate, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, respiratory rate, and temperature checks.
- Fall Risk & Mobility Audits: Functional movement assessments conducted by home health nurses or physical/occupational therapists.
- Cognitive & Dementia Screenings: In-home memory assessments and functional capacity evaluations.
- Wound & Surgical Site Inspections: Digital documentation and staging of pressure ulcers or post-operative wounds.
Key Requirements for In-Home Diagnostics
- Physician Order Required: Just like hospital or clinic imaging, mobile X-rays, ultrasounds, and lab draws require a signed order or requisition form from a licensed physician, PA, or Nurse Practitioner.
- Insurance & Medicare Coverage: Medicare Part B and many private insurance plans cover mobile X-rays, ultrasounds, and home lab draws when deemed medically necessary or when traveling to a facility is difficult for the patient.
